Moana's Activity - SLJ

Hey Blog Viewers,

Moana is an Polynesian adventurous girl, who really loves her family, would do anything to go past the reef.  Moana is an hero, friend of water and is on a adventure to find Demigod Maui. She is to sail to Maui's land and tell him to aboard her canoe and return the heart of Tawhiti. While, there adventures, she has her little chicken to keep her company. Tawhiti is the god of Earth, she is really kind and has control over all the trees and earth in all islands. She is very peaceful, also patient. Maui, shapeshifter, Demigod of wind and sea, hero of men and woman. It took time for Maui to get to trust Moana. Eventually, they finally make it back to Tawhiti, after all Tawhiti was Te Ra. Te Ra was the outrageous fire monster, blocking their way to Tawhiti. Moana, was the only person who could take the "Heart of Tawhiti". She was very furious, finally Moana calmed Tawhiti, and peacefully returned her "Heart". She changed back to her normal self and the islands went back to normal. Finally, she returned home safely with a new canoe that Tawhiti had renewed for her. It was damaged during their fun adventure. Her family was glad to see her back from her scary, long adventure.

Today we have been reflecting on Kawa of Care and how we should always follow the rules. Looking back into my year was really interesting, seeing the times that I haven't followed the Kawa of Care and the times I have followed it. This is my DLO.

My Simple, Compund and Complex Sentences

Today, Room 9 we were learning about how to write an simple, compound and complex sentence. I found the task fairly easy. We had a Success Criteria Checklist. We had to write several sentences for each category. Here is our Success Criteria Checklist. We used this to edit and buddy check our work.



Here is my writing. We had to buddy check each others writing to check for any error, spelling mistakes, and highlight the different kinds of pieces of writing with the colours shown. Here is my writing, I've used several sentences to explain one mainly 3 ideas.

Procedure Writing

Good Morning Everyone,

Today we were learning how to write an procedure. It is really easy, you just have to include the simple points. We were giving instructions on how to go on Netflix on your TV. Our LO:(Learning Object) was To write an procedure for a simple task. I was working with an buddy, Adriana. We had loads of fun trying out and writing each step by step.

Our SC:(Success Criteria) was:

- Simple/Direct

- Broken in to words

- Easy to understand

- Equipment/Ingredients

- Title

- Number the steps in order

- Action Words

So here is my procedure writing. Hope you enjoy my writing. Remember when you finish you need to go back and check your SC, to see if you have completed your Success Criteria, Have a buddy to try out your Procedure to see if your instructions are stated clear and specific.

Rocket Presentation

Malo e lelei, Talofa Everyone,

Today our class went to Wesley Primary. It was such a great experience to present our Rocket Presentation that we have been working on for about 4-5 weeks. As soon as we reached Wesley Primary, we entered Room 3 and start presenting our Rocket experience with Wesley Primary. Wesley Primary showed their manners and respected the equipment.Once we reached the classroom, we went over a few safety rules. We shared some of our knowledge with Wesley Primary how to launch a rocket safely. After a while, we gave 4 Wesley Primary students a turn to participate in launching the rocket. It was a scary and fun experience for Wesley Primary as the students said. It was scary because the Rocket was uncertain on when it was launching. Matariki Slides

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Today, I have been learning a bit more about Matariki. I learnt that not only New Zealand celebrate Matariki, there are a few more countries that celebrate Matariki, you could learn more about different countries that celebrate. It was easy to make the slides and present the information. It was really fun learning new things about Matariki, but the only thing I found challenging was putting the information into slides and putting the information into the right place. ASB Getwise

Talofa everyone,

Today, Jaden from ASB Getwise came into my class. We all learnt about how to spend our money wisely. We spent a few minutes on learning how important it is to save your money. After that few minutes he explained to us how to play a game. He split our class into three teams. We started playing the game.

He gave each team a budget of $1,800. He gave us a holiday to go to LA. We had to spend the money on things we needed but Jaden limited the options for us. We enjoyed playing the game and all had fun getting a chance to spend our money on options. We had fun. At the end, we all had an ASB Getwise bracelet from Jaden.
